During a weekend trip in the Ardennes, we tested this knife extensively. The tanto design proved particularly effective for making kindling and piercing hard material. The compact dimensions were ideal for fine cutting work, although we noticed that the short handle can be somewhat tiring for larger hands during prolonged use.
Performance and sharpness of this survival knife
The 8Cr13MoV material is a Chinese steel grade known for its excellent price-quality ratio. This steel remains reasonably razor-sharp for a long time and is easy to resharpen. The blade length of 9 cm with plain-edge grind cuts effortlessly through rope, wood and food. The tanto point is extra robust for piercing and leverage work.
Grip and ease of use
The black Griv-Ex handle (fibreglass-reinforced nylon) offers an ergonomic grip, even with wet or cold hands. The knife has a finger guard for extra safety during intensive use. At 121 grams, it is pleasantly light for a fixed blade, although the 8.5 cm handle may feel somewhat tight for large hands.
