Vortex Crossfire HD 4-12x44 Rifle Scope

This rifle scope from Vortex Optics is a versatile optic with a variable magnification of 4-12x and a bright 44 mm objective lens. Whether you need to aim quickly at close range or require a sharp image at greater distances, this sight delivers a crisp, clear image with an illuminated reticle for added confidence in low-light conditions.

Our view on this rifle scope

We found this Crossfire HD surprisingly solid for its price range. The HD glass delivers a sharp image right to the edges, and the fast-focus eyepiece makes reticle focusing genuinely effortless. What stood out most to us: the housing feels like a single solid piece, with no play in the adjustment turrets. Exactly what you want from an optic that needs to handle substantial recoil.

Technology and optical performance

The optic features a 4-12x44 configuration with a second focal plane (SFP) parallax, meaning the reticle always remains the same size regardless of the selected magnification. The Illuminated Dead-Hold 2A BDC (MOA) reticle combines an illuminated central dot with reliable holdover and windage markings — ideal when shooting at varying distances. The fully multi-coated lenses ensure maximum light transmission, and with an eye relief of 3.8" you maintain a comfortable distance. Parallax is adjustable from 15 yds. to ∞.

The housing is machined from a single block of aircraft-grade aluminium with a low-glare matte black anodise finish. This makes the sight waterproof, fogproof, and shockproof. The illumination runs on a CR2032 battery (included), the unit weighs 0.6 kilograms and measures 13.4" in length with a 1 inch tube diameter. Further specifications can be found under the 'More information' tab.

Mounting and compatibility

This rifle scope has a 1 inch / 25.4 mm tube diameter and is mounted using standard 1 inch rings on a Picatinny or Weaver rail — the common standard on many PCP air rifles and replicas. This provides a secure mounting and broad compatibility with existing mounts.

Please note: this is a standalone sight, no rings or mounting bracket are included. However, a comprehensive accessories package is included: a Neoprene Cover, a 3" sunshade, a Turret Tool, a lens cloth, and a CR2032 battery.

Who is this rifle scope intended for?

This rifle scope is intended for the sport shooter or experienced air rifle user who wants to aim accurately at varying distances. Thanks to the illuminated reticle, this sight is also pleasant to use at dusk or in less favourable lighting conditions, for example in static shooting setups. The generous magnification range makes it an excellent choice for those who value detail and contrast in precision work.
