Excite Smart Shot – Copper-Coated BBs for Recreational Shooting

The Excite Smart Shot is a series of lead BBs with a copper coating in 4.5 mm / .177, designed for safe and enjoyable shooting at close range. Because the projectile deforms upon impact, the risk of ricochets is significantly reduced, making these BBs a pleasant choice for shooting in a controlled environment or close to a pellet trap. With a weight of 7.4 grain and a Domed shape, this air rifle ammunition performs well in BB pistols and BB air rifles powered by CO₂ or spring pressure, where a minimum muzzle energy of approximately 3.4 joules is sufficient.

Our Experience from the Shogun Team

In practice, the calm behaviour upon impact stands out in particular: the copper coating around the lead projectile causes the BB to flatten rather than ricochet, which makes shooting at metal targets considerably more pleasant. At distances of up to approximately 10 metres, the flight behaviour remains predictable enough for recreational plinking and practising on reactive targets. The domed shape contributes to a clean and stable trajectory within that range, without the erratic behaviour you sometimes experience with fully steel BBs.

Technical Specifications in Practice

These precision pellets have a caliber of 4.5 mm / .177, a weight of 7.4 grain, and a Domed shape, constructed from a lead core with a Copper coating. The packaging contains 1500 pieces, ideal for longer shooting sessions without needing to reload frequently. The combination of the copper surface and the relatively lightweight projectile ensures smooth acceleration and clean energy distribution at close range. A chronograph is useful for mapping the actual energy output of your system, and it is worth observing how these BBs perform in your specific air-powered gun for the best accuracy.

Who Is This Air Rifle Ammunition Suited For?

These BBs are primarily intended for recreational shooters who enjoy plinking, practising on reactive targets, or shooting indoors and in the garden with a controlled setup. Due to the low ricochet behaviour, they feel safe and accessible, both for those just starting out and for the shooter who simply wants to relax and practise with a BB pistol or BB air rifle. Those who value a calm shooting experience at close range and a generous supply in a single container will be well served by this Smart Shot.
