The Crosman 2240 is a nice CO2 pistol with a drawn barrel. It is best to use pellets for this model as it cannot shoot BBs. This results in the best shot pattern. Below the barrel is the CO2 cartridge holder, where you insert one 12-gram CO2 cartridge. Around 40 shots can be fired per CO2 cartridge. However, keep in mind that the pressure in the cartridge decreases during shooting, so the last shots will be less powerful than the first.
CO2 Use and Maintenance
The CO2 cartridge drains slowly when the gun is not in use. It is therefore recommended to shoot a CO2 cartridge completely empty once it is inserted. In addition, a CO2 cartridge can dry out the seal in the long run. To prevent this, occasionally smear some Pellgun oil on the seal of the 2240 so that it does not dry out and can be used optimally.
Compatibility and Modifications
It is quite possible to mount a flask on the 2240. Besides a flask, an adapter and a silencer can also be fitted to this model. As with the 1377, it is possible to mount a steel breech so that a scope or red dot can be mounted. It is also possible to use only a sight mount, so a scope or red dot can still be used.
Shooting fun and targets
To keep shooting fun and focused, it is a good idea to use a shooting cabinet with shooting cards. This makes shooting more challenging and fun.
