Experience from the Shogun team

During a weekend trip through the Ardennes, we tested this knife extensively. We noticed how solid it felt in the hand when chopping kindling. The grip remained excellent even in rainy conditions, although we did observe that the black coated finish showed slight wear after intensive use.

Performance and sharpness of this knife

The razor-sharp blade made from Sandvik 14C28N steel holds its edge exceptionally well. This Swedish steel offers a perfect balance between hardness and flexibility. With a blade length of 11.3 cm and a thickness of 4.3 mm, it cuts effortlessly through rope, wood, and food. The plain-edge grind makes it easy to maintain.

Grip and ease of use

The ergonomic grip made from glass fibre reinforced nylon sits comfortably in the hand. The full tang design ensures perfect balance at a weight of only 184 grams. As a fixed blade knife, it does not require an opening mechanism or lock – it is always ready for immediate use.

Who is this knife suitable for?

This outdoor knife is ideal for the advanced user seeking a reliable workhorse. Bushcrafters will appreciate the robust construction and the drop point blade for versatile tasks. Hunters and tactical enthusiasts will value the military background and the tough black design.

Maintenance and durability

The stainless steel Sandvik 14C28N requires minimal maintenance – usually, rinsing after use and storing dry is sufficient. The blade finish with coating provides extra protection against corrosion. For optimal performance, we recommend regular sharpening with a fine sharpening stone and lightly oiling the blade after intensive use.
