Do I need a licence to buy an air rifle or air pistol?

You do not need a permit as a buyer, and later as an owner, to purchase and own an Air Pistol and or Air Rifle in the Netherlands. However, the condition for purchase and possession is that you must be at least 18 years of age or older. The buyer of an Air Pistol or Air Rifle must be able to prove this by law using his or her own Passport or Identity Card.

What about transporting an Air Gun or Air Pistol?

By law, it is not allowed to walk down the street with an air rifle or air pistol and or transport it in, for example, the car without the air rifle and or air pistol being properly packed. This is because according to the law, an air rifle and or air pistol should not be immediately grabbed and used during transport. The air rifle and or air pistol should therefore never be cocked and or loaded during transport. To pack the air rifle or air pistol properly, you should put it in a suitable case. As an additional safety measure, we also recommend closing the case with a lock and fitting a trigger lock to the air rifle or air pistol during transport. During transport, you must be able to prove that you are over 18 years old as required by law. You must also be able to prove this while using an air pistol or air rifle. Therefore, do not forget to carry a valid ID Proof with you.

Can anyone buy an air rifle or air pistol?

In principle, almost anyone is allowed to buy an air rifle or air pistol. In fact, the condition for the purchase is that the customer/buyer must be older than the legally required minimum age of 18 and must be able to prove this in person with his or her original valid ID card. If you are not yet 18 years of age or older then unfortunately you cannot yet buy an air rifle or air pistol.

Why are my details recorded upon delivery?

Every air rifle or air pistol sold by a dealer is legally subject to a so-called identification and registration obligation. This identification and registration obligation is a legal requirement for both the dealer and the customer concerned. This means that when all air rifles and air pistols are sold, the details of the customer concerned must be registered by means of his or her valid identity paper. The details of the air rifle or air pistol purchased by the customer are recorded in his or her name and these details must be compulsorily kept in a register which must be kept for at least 7 years.

How long does it take to receive my Order?

In most cases, it takes 1 to 2 working days for an order to be fully processed and offered by us to the parcel service. However, certain products may be out of stock and have to be ordered by us. We usually indicate this with the product in question, yes/no in stock and approximately the number of days it will take.

If I place a second order for an air rifle or air pistol, do I have to send a copy of my ID again? Surely you already have my details now?

The law states that any purchase of an Air Rifle and or Air Pistol is always subject to a so-called identification and registration requirement. This applies to all air rifles and air pistols sold by a gun dealer. We, as firearms dealers, must check the details of every sale against the valid copy of the buyer's ID card. The details of the copy ID are then used to register the relevant air rifle and/or air pistol in the name of the buyer. The copy ID Proof will be linked to the order placed. The copy is not kept and is therefore always valid only once. The buyer must therefore also send us a clearly legible copy of a valid ID proof with every order for an Air Rifle or Air Pistol. Do you have an account with us? Then your identification details will be stored there. Please note! So this is not the copy or photo you send but only the data we need.

What about identification?

When purchasing an air rifle or air pistol, the purchaser must be able to identify themselves personally using their own original and valid identification papers. This is because it is a legal requirement for the buyer of an air rifle and or air pistol to prove that he or she is older than the legally required minimum age of 18. Even with a subsequent new purchase of an air rifle or air pistol, the buyer must again be able to personally identify himself or herself using his or her own original valid identification papers. This is because the legislator states that identification is compulsory for every purchase. The following can serve as identification: a Passport or ID Card. No other papers are allowed.
