When am I allowed to buy/use an Airsoft Replica?

Rules for buying and using airsoft replicas.

To buy and use an airsoft replica  you must be at least 18 years old. When buying an airsoft replica from us, you must be able to prove that you are 18 years or older . We therefore ask you to provide a copy of your ID after purchasing.

The use of airsoft replicas is restricted to recognised airsoft locations. You are prohibited from using airsoft replicas in public places, such as parks, streets or public buildings. You may only play airsoft at designated locations, such as airsoft fields and clubs.

It is important to note that laws and regulations regarding airsoft may change. We recommend you check the latest information on the Dutch Airsoft Sportbond (NABV) website or contact them for specific details and updates.

When can I buy/use an air rifle?

Restrictions and safety measures

There are no specific restrictions regarding the power or calibre of air rifles in the Netherlands. Not all models of air rifles are permitted in the Netherlands. There are legal requirements for the appearance of an air rifle. The air rifles on our website are permitted in the Netherlands. It is important to take safety measures when owning and using an air rifle, such as storing and transporting the weapon in a safe manner.
Please consult your local authorities regarding the legality of owning and using air guns in your country. Shogun is not responsible for any confiscation that may occur. Purchasing an illegal air gun is solely your responsibility.

Where am I allowed to shoot with an air rifle?

Using an air rifle in public areas is prohibited. It is only allowed to shoot with an air rifle on private property that is not open to the public, such as enclosed gardens, recognised shooting clubs or private property for which permission has been obtained.

How should I transport an air rifle?

An air rifle should be transported unloaded and safely, preferably in a case or gun bag (case). The weapon should not be readily available for use during transport.

Identification and purchase

To purchase an air rifle, you must be 18 years or older. We ask for proof of identification to verify your age by providing a copy of your ID.

Consequences of non-compliance

Failure to comply with airgun legislation may result in criminal prosecution. Possessing or using an air rifle in prohibited locations, violating safety measures or breaking other laws can result in fines, a criminal record, confiscation of the weapon and possibly even imprisonment.

Insurance

Although there is no legal requirement to take out insurance for an air rifle, it may be wise to check whether your household or liability insurance covers it. Consult your insurance company to see what cover is provided.

Applicability of legislation

The legislation applies to all types of air rifles, including air guns and air pistols, regardless of whether they are spring- or (compressed) air-powered.

Use for self-defence

Using an air rifle for self-defence is not permitted. Air rifles may only be used at designated locations for sporting purposes or recreational activities.

When can I buy a firearm?

Rules for owning firearms in the Netherlands

To own a firearm in the Netherlands, you must have a valid firearms licence. This licence is issued by the police and is required for all firearms.

You must have a legitimate reason to own a firearm, such as sport shooting, hunting or collecting. For each purpose, there is a specific type of licence and associated requirements.

The minimum age for applying for a firearms licence is 18 years.

When am I allowed to buy/use a bow/crossbow?

Handbows

You can own a handbow even if you are under 18, but it is important to assess whether a handbow is suitable for young people. Note that local ordinances may restrict the rules around handbows. Using handbows for hunting is not allowed.

Crossbows

Buying a crossbow is permitted for persons over 18 years of age. It may only be shot with on private property, provided this can be done safely. If transported by road, the crossbow must be rendered unusable, for example by being stored in a case or bag and not having the bow cocked. Arrows should not have sharpened sides but have a sharp point. All bows and accessories we sell comply with Dutch legislation.

When am I allowed to buy/use a blowgun?

Blowguns 

Persons under the age of 18 are allowed to own a blowgun. However, it is important to note that blowguns are not toys and are considered potentially lethal weapons. The needle of a blowgun can penetrate several centimetres deep into the skin.

Use of blowguns

It is not allowed to use blowguns for hunting, even against pests such as rats or mice. Also keep local ordinances in mind, as a blowgun, despite not being considered a weapon, may still be prohibited under certain rules.

The legislation concerning knives is important to be well aware of, both for pocket knives and fixed knives. It is essential to know what is and is not allowed. Please check with local authorities what the rules are.,
