The Air Brake Cup V2 from Silverback is an air brake for sniper replicas of the TAC-41 and SRS type. An air brake reduces the shooting noise by building up an air cushion just before the piston contacts the bolt. This dampens the contact noise without any noticeable loss of power when correctly adjusted. This airsoft air brake is added when you want to fine-tune the sound profile of your bolt-action rifle and tailor the dampening to your build.

Technical specifications

This air brake set is injection-moulded from reinforced polycarbonate, a technical plastic known for its durability and resilience. The set contains seven air brakes in sizes XXS, XS, S, M, L, XL, and XXL, mounted on a single cluster from which you remove the desired size. The XXS, M, and XXL sizes correspond to the earlier aluminium models, while the four additional sizes allow for more precise dampening adjustment. The cup is finished in orange.

Compatibility and application

This air brake is intended for the Silverback TAC-41 and SRS platforms. The set is compatible with the original SRS piston (SBA-BPS-12 and SBA-BPS-13), the original TAC-41 piston (SBA-BPS-30), the variable mass piston for SRS (SBA-BPS-18) and for TAC-41 (SBA-BPS-31), the SRS pressure piston (SBA-BPS-14), and the SRS Push-in bolt set (SBA-BBA-17). Swapping the air brake requires experience in disassembling your piston group, so this set is best suited to an advanced build where you already have access to the gearbox or piston system.

To select the correct size, test your replica with a chronograph using each of the seven air brakes. You will obtain a curve that begins with a stable plateau before dropping sharply. Choose the longest air brake that does not reduce the power output of your replica, allowing you to combine maximum noise reduction with retained energy during your skirmishes.
