ZAN Projectiles HP Slugs 40gr – heavy slugs for long-range precision

These HP Slugs from ZAN Projectiles, with their 40 grain weight, are specially developed for shooters who want to get the most out of their PCP air rifle. The hollow point design in 5.5mm/.22 caliber ensures controlled expansion on impact, while the aerodynamic shape guarantees excellent flight performance. With a ballistic coefficient between 0.130-0.140, these slugs are optimised for velocities between 850 and 1000 fps, making them ideal for powerful PCP systems from 40 joules upwards.

Our experience from the Shogun team

In our tests, these 40 grain slugs performed impressively stable at distances up to 100 metres and beyond. The 11.2mm length provides optimal weight distribution, resulting in a flat trajectory. At higher velocities around 950 fps, we achieved the best groupings, with the hollow point construction consistently maintaining its shape during flight. The heavier projectile is less sensitive to crosswinds than lighter alternatives.

Technical properties in practice

With a diameter of 5.53mm (.218"), these slugs fit perfectly in most .22 barrels with a slug liner. The lead material is precisely cast for consistent weight distribution, which is essential for repeatable precision. The 200 pieces per pack mean you have more than enough for extensive testing sessions. The hollow point design not only ensures better energy transfer on impact, but also contributes to aerodynamic stability during flight.
