The modern spring-loaded air rifle can deliver a high muzzle velocity in countries where the law allows it. This results in considerable recoil that can damage a scope if scope mounts are not designed to withstand this force. Airguns cause double the recoil, but a well-designed mounting system can handle this.
Hawke Match Mounts are specially designed with a recoil stop and cushion tape to prevent damage to the scope tube.
