The AEA Megalodon is an impressive big bore air rifle with pump action, specially designed for recreational shooting at long distances. This PCP air rifle combines ease of use with extreme power thanks to the unique pumping system built around the front air cylinder.
Our experience with the AEA Megalodon
The Shogun team was impressed by this air weapon. The pump action works surprisingly smoothly and the ergonomic pistol grip with pre-formed finger grooves fits excellently in the hand. The aluminium frame feels robust and the two PCP cylinders with a combined capacity of 600 cc provide sufficient air supply.
Technology, performance and variants
The AEA Megalodon operates on PCP (pre-charged pneumatic) technology with a maximum fill pressure of 310 bar (4500 PSI). The rifle has a length of 96.5 cm and a barrel length of 55.8 cm. This model is available in various calibers: 9mm (.35) with 11-shot magazine capacity, 11.4mm (.45) and 12.7mm (.50) both with 8-shot capacity, and 14.7mm (.58) with 6-shot capacity. The .50 variant delivers an impressive 590 joules. The rifle is not regulated, meaning the remaining fill pressure must be monitored carefully via the pressure gauge. Use and operation
This powerful air rifle has a pump action that sits around the front air cylinder and is fitted with diagonal grooves for better grip. The single action trigger system ensures a predictable shot. On the top is an interrupted Weaver/Picatinny rail for mounting a rifle scope, whilst the underside has a short accessory rail for a bipod or shooting stick.
