Our experience with the Black Maxxim IGT Mach 1

The Shogun team has extensively tested this air rifle and what immediately stands out is the sturdy polymer stock with SWA shock absorption. It feels solid, despite the relatively light weight of 3.1 kilograms. The loading mechanism via the break-barrel works smoothly and the CAT trigger (Custom Action Trigger) can be easily adjusted to personal preference.

Technology, performance and variants

This powerful air rifle operates with Gamo's IGT gas piston system – no traditional spring, which results in less vibration and a longer lifespan. With a barrel length of 482 mm and a 29 joule output, you deliver consistently good performance. This model is available in caliber 4.5mm with a velocity of 420 MPS (1378 FPS) and in 5.5mm with 315 MPS (1033 FPS). The difference in caliber determines the balance between velocity and impact – 4.5mm for higher velocity and flatter trajectory, 5.5mm for more energy transfer to the target. Use and operation

This air rifle feels familiar during use. The manual safety catch is located in a logical position and the polymer stock sits comfortably in the hand, suitable for both left- and right-handed shooters. The single-shot mechanism means you need to reload after each shot via the break-barrel – a familiar ritual that contributes to controlled shooting. The 11mm dovetail mounting rail provides space for accessories.
